    Houston, TX – Sharing her latest novel, A Good Girl is how award-winning novelist, Johnnie Bernhard, is doing her part to contribute to Women’s History Month.

    Bernhard’s novel follows main character, Gracey Reiter and her story, as she learns from the family history in her grandmother’s account written in their family Bible. In alignment with the Women’s History Month 2017 theme, Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business, Bernhard strives to inspire women and girls with her story.

    Education and a work ethic are stepping stones into independence and personal growth for all women. A Good Girl received top ten finalist recognition in the 2015 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition.     Women’s History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. It is celebrated during March in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Growing out of a small-town school event in California, Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society.

    A former AP English teacher and journalist, Johnnie Bernhard’s passion is reading and writing. Her work(s) have appeared in the following publications: University of Michigan Graduate Studies Publications, Heart of Ann Arbor Magazine, Houston Style Magazine, World Oil Magazine, The Suburban Reporter of Houston, The Mississippi Press, University of South Florida Area Health Education Magazine, the international Word Among Us, Southern Writers Magazine, Gulf Coast Writers Association Anthologies, and the Cowbird-NPR production on small town America.
